On January 16, 1933, the American Legion post in Whitewater circulated $400.00 in small denomination checks. The checks were paid for by the initial user. Subsequent users were to endorse them. The checks could be redeemed at either of the local banks after 20 endorsements were entered. The goal was to use the scrip to pay off $8,000.00 in local debts.

Based on letters to the local newspaper it appears that the checks did not circulate well.

No examples of these checks are known.
